Honours and Master’s in Applied Linguistics and African Languages (AXL07)

Admission requirements:

Faculty admission requirements as set out under Rule FH3 and FM3 apply.

Programme requirements:

  • Honours: BA with a major in an African language
  • Master’s: Honours in Applied Linguistics and African Languages with a pass of at least 60%.

 Note: These two programmes form part of a two-year cycle; each programme is accordingly offered in alternate years.

The past 10 years have seen a tremendous advance in information and digital technologies impacting scientific inquiry. Data are being created at volumes and rates that surpass researchers’ capabilities to manage and mine for knowledge, and the problem will increase exponentially in future.

Our Digital Media Production's "Queer Me Out Project" is ready to be heard

Three CFMS students, Annabela Bekker, Jessica Barraclough and Alix Hodge, have created a unique and original web-based interactive documentary entitled the Queer Me Out Project. These 2017 Digital Media Production class students have created a platform that explores the relationships between language and LGBTQIA+ identity in Cape Town and South Africa.
