The competition rewards students in each of two categories, Classical and Jazz. Bursary: R25 000 for each category - R5 000 to each of the other two finalists.

SAICE: South African Institute for Chemical Engineers SAAE: South African Academy of Engineering Joint meeting concerning the City of Cape Town's management of water during the drought, as well as the City's planning of short-term and longer-term interventions. Concerns about the Department of Water and Sanitation's management of water and their planning and implementation of future schemes will also be addressed. The meeting follows the joint SAICE/SAAE meetings held with the Premier of the Western Cape and with the Department of Water and Sanitation's Parliamentary Portfolio Committee. The lecture will be presented by: Neil Macleod (advisor to the City of Cape Town), and Gisela Kaiser (City of Cape Town Executive Director Informal Settlements, Water and Waste)

United States Consular General and CARA host Autism Awareness Event at the American Corner in Cape Town

To celebrate Autism Awareness Month, the US Consulate in Cape Town and CARA partnered together to host a special film screening and discussion about Oscar nominated documentary, Life, Animated. The film is an inspiring story about a young man with autism and his lifelong love of Disney movies which allows him to process the world and in turn learn to communicate. It depicts his and his family's journey from early childhood to adulthood.
