We are planning to update the software in the computer labs for Semester 2,, and invite suggestions for software that you would like to see installed. The proposed software would need to be able to run on Windows 10, and licensed.
For a list of software already on the ICTS base image (i.e. programmes made available to all computer lab environments) and, therefore, also already available in the computer lab, visit http://www.icts.uct.ac.za/health-sciences-labs
In the past 2 weeks we have received a number of NRF funding calls which we have distributed through the UCT research funding email address to the research community. The new calls have very strict deadlines. To eliminate the risk of researchers missing some of these emails and ease of reference, below is a summary of the calls with a brief description and contact persons.
The Academic Freedom Committee invites staff and students to submit nominations for the 2019 TB Davie Memorial Lecture.
The lecture was established by UCT students to commemorate the work of Thomas Benjamin Davie, who was Vice-Chancellor from 1948 to 1955 and a defender of the principles of academic freedom. Previous speakers include Noam Chomsky (1997), Kader Asmal (2002) and Max du Preez (2014). See a list of previous speakers...
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Shortness of breath means that you are struggling to breathe in air, and that you have to take more breaths.
For example: When walking to the shop you feel you have to stop to breathe and rest.
Heart and lung problems are usually the cause of this shortness of breath.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Seek help from a nurse, health care worker or doctor as soon as possible if you are short of breath.
